Barbara is a GiANT Leadership Guide (GiANT) with with over two decades of innovative peace-building, leadership and partnership development to transform global education.


Barbara excels in fostering team and community engagement and crafting sustainable partnerships that catalyze change across local, national, and international spheres.

With more than two decades of leadership in K-12 and higher education in the UK and US, Barbara has designed numerous innovative programs and established over 30 international partnerships, significantly enhancing the lives of children, young adults, and communities in Ireland, Romania, Malawi, and Uganda. She has extensive non-profit leadership experience and, over the last decade, has served as a Trustee and Board Chair of Youth Link NI and Scripture Union Northern Ireland. 

Currently, Barbara serves as Head of International Engagement at Stranmillis College, Queen’s University Belfast responsible for generating income and identifying new market opportunities. Additionally, as a Principal Lecturer in Education, Barbara contributed to the Leadership Institute for Faith in Education (LIFE) at Harvard Graduate School of Education, particularly as a course reviewer for LIFE's inaugural professional development course, Building Partnerships for Equity, Justice, and Student Success.

Barbara's experience also includes collaborations with the University of Pittsburgh, Baylor University, and participation in a Templeton-funded multinational research project on Forgiveness Education with the University of Wisconsin-Madison, alongside partners in Israel/Palestine, Taiwan and Northern Ireland. 

Born and raised in Northern Ireland during 'The Troubles', Barbara moved to the University of St. Andrews for her studies, as the violent political conflict continued to impact everyday life in her home city of Belfast. She undertook graduate studies in Oxford before feeling called to return to Northern Ireland following the Good Friday Agreement. Barbara relishes exploring new places and meeting new people. When not traveling, she enjoys rugby, theater, golf, seaside walks, and quality time with friends and family.
